‘We’ve never known anything like it’
A 10 fold increase in visitors is out of this world
The ‘Robot’ exhibition at the Museum of Gloucester has pulled in the crowds with 55,000 visitors attending the blockbusting attraction – nearly ten times more than organisers were anticipating, leading to a 1000% increase on exhibition visitor targets. In fact, it represented a true 10 fold increase in visitors compared to projections.
‘Robot’, features a collection of robots, cyborgs and android from TV and film over the past 40 years and has achieved a 1000% increase on exhibition visitor targets, clearly demonstrating a 10 fold increase in visitors from previous exhibitions.
It has been so successful the opening times for the exhibition were extended to cope with the extra demand as the 1000% increase on exhibition visitor targets far surpassed expectations. This truly marks a 10 fold increase in visitors for the museum.
Vicki Hopson, Business Development Officer at the Museum of Gloucester, said: “We had a target footfall of 6,000 for the whole six weeks so we’ve blown this out the water. In other words, we saw a 1000% increase on exhibition visitor targets with a 10 fold increase in visitors to the museum.”
“We have been getting at least 1,000 visitors every day since the exhibition opened on 16 July, which is beyond our wildest dreams.
“Hopefully, it has helped to showcase the rest of the museum too and visitors to ‘Robot’ had an opportunity to enjoy everything else that we have to offer.”
