Growing a family brand — from countryside charm to digital confidence

Broadslap Fruit Farm

Home-grown. Home-made. Heartfelt.

Case Study: Broadslap Fruit Farm

Home-grown. Home-made. Heartfelt — and now fully future-ready.

The Challenge

Broadslap Fruit Farm has always been a much-loved destination for families — a place where Scottish countryside, good food, and community spirit meet. IDEAS had previously developed their brand identity, signage, and interior design for the café and shop, capturing the essence of Broadslap’s wholesome, home-grown charm.

Our next challenge was digital:

“Updating the Broadslap website — incorporating all the existing pages, but creating a sleeker, more modern, up-to-date version with the flexibility to make seasonal changes.”

The existing site had become dated, with server limitations and technical issues affecting both the booking system and Gmail functionality. Broadslap also wanted to evolve their marketing to attract a more profitable, family-focused audience and increase visitor engagement throughout the year.

Our Solution

IDEAS approached the project with a holistic strategy — not simply a website revamp, but a comprehensive marketing and experience refresh designed to help Broadslap grow sustainably.

Discovery & Strategy

Through in-depth client meetings and analysis, we explored Broadslap’s ambitions, frustrations, and future plans. We listened carefully to uncover the deeper questions:

  • What are you known for — and what do you want to be known for?

  • Who is your ideal visitor, and what motivates them?

  • What do visitors look for on a sunny day, a rainy day, or a family weekend away?

This discovery phase informed a strategic plan focused on family values, quality, service, environment, and authenticity — the true essence of Broadslap.

Brand & Messaging Evolution

We refreshed the brand narrative to celebrate what makes Broadslap unique:

“Home-grown. Home-made.” — a statement no competitor could claim.

The messaging was designed around moments of joy and belonging, expressing Broadslap’s belief in connection to the land and to one another. We built a simple, strong story that aligned the brand’s personality with its audience’s motivations:

  • Family togetherness

  • Honest, Scottish produce

  • Wholesome hospitality and a sense of discovery

Website Redevelopment

We designed and built a modern, flexible, fully responsive website, moving the entire site to a new, more robust server and integrating the existing booking system seamlessly.
This addressed the long-standing technical issues while giving Broadslap’s team full control to make content and seasonal updates easily.

The new site combines clean design, intuitive navigation, and visually rich storytelling — supported by professional photography art-directed by IDEAS to capture the atmosphere, freshness, and family appeal of the destination.

Content, Imagery & Engagement

Our in-house photographer and art director crafted imagery with meticulous attention to composition, lighting, colour, and texture — ensuring every visual reflected the high quality of Broadslap’s offering.

We then expanded the digital footprint with:

  • A suite of social media assets linking back to the website

  • Graphic templates for regular posting and seasonal campaigns

  • Ideas for customer engagement and feedback collection

Extended Marketing Strategy

IDEAS also proposed a structured long-term marketing plan including:

  • Cross-media awareness campaigns before, during, and after key seasons

  • Targeted promotions to attract high-value family visitors

  • Visitor takeaway materials, such as a mini-magazine filled with Broadslap stories and seasonal highlights

  • Local and regional advertising, including bus sides and YouTube/TV opportunities

Every idea was prioritised around budget and capacity — ensuring maximum impact and minimum stress for the Broadslap team.

The Results

The new Broadslap Fruit Farm website not only modernised their digital presence — it strengthened the entire brand.

  • Significant increase in search visibility, with Broadslap now dominating results for:
“fruit farm in Perthshire,” “fruit picking in Perthshire,” “strawberry picking fruit farm in Perthshire,” and many more.

  • Seamless user experience, increasing bookings and visitor engagement.

  • Clearer, more confident storytelling that captures the heart of Broadslap and connects emotionally with their ideal customers.

  • Ongoing marketing momentum, supported by consistent visuals, messaging, and social media integration.

The project reaffirmed IDEAS’ ability to nurture long-term client relationships, helping family businesses grow with confidence through strategy, creativity, and care.
